JAMES CAMERON'S TITANIC: In 1996 we were privileged to contribute wardrobe to the Fox/Paramount production of James Cameron's TITANIC. It is without a doubt, one of the most exciting projects we have ever been associated with. At the end of the enormous production there were naturally pieces that went missing.
This gown was one of the pieces traded to us, from the production, as a replacement. They were stored in the safety of individual boxes and only brought out when a scene required them. This gown has been in our private collection since that time. It has been painstakingly stored for safekeeping. This is the first time it is being offered for public consideration. Attached to the storage box is a Polaroid snapshot of the dress taken by the costume department for identification purposes.
A description of the dress is hand written on side. Box shows some wear from general use during the production. It is not a Peterman or other modern reproduction. Bust measured underarm to underarm - 32" Sleeve measured from seam to hem edge - 23 1/2" Shoulder measured across back yoke - 15 1/2" Bodice length measured from neck edge to waist seam - 12 1/2" High waist - 25" Low waist - 27" Hip - 38" Skirt length measured center back from high waist seam to hem edge - 42" Condition: Considering it's use in a film production and the early period of the gown it is in very good condition, however, it does have issues. Shows some minor wear and there are several tiny moth holes throughout, with one a bit larger on the skirt.
Shows some minor soiling & age discoloring, soil mark at underside of hem where sweep has been removed. Shows edge wear to satin at bodice. Appears that bodice lining and sash have been copied and professionally restored. Comes from smoke free environment. Please ask any questions you may have at the Ask A Question link. THANK YOU, WE APPRECIATE YOUR BUSINESS.
