Vintage 1950s Custom Made Tape Lace Dress Worn By Edie Adams on the Frank Sinatra Show and Premier of "Big Country". This stunning and magnificent, high quality vintage sleeveless cream dress features a very fine crochet cut-out tape lace. It was custom designed for Edie Adams by the Moore Company. It is embellished with silver lame ribbon and is lined with a warp face crepe and satin underskirt. It has a coordinating attached at the bottom scarf that can be worn various ways and has a matching leather belt with lace.
Edie wore this dress on The Frank Sinatra Show in March of 1958 when she was his guest star. Online there are many images of them together on the show, and a few are seen here for reference. After this engagement she had the sleeves removed and then wore it with the scarf to the premiere of The Big Country that she attended with her husband Ernie Kovacs in October, 1958. All of the lace detail matches on the dress itself, and can be seen vividly in the close up images online.
With Edies eye for fashion she was able to transform the dress from one style to another, and as glamorous as it is, its no wonder she wore it on TV as well as to a movie premiere. This is the earliest piece in the collection that was worn this extensively. It features a sewn in bust and waist support with a talon back zipper. It is accompanied by a photo of Edie wearing it to the premiere with her husband Ernie Kovacs, no other images accompany the lot. Chest - 34" Waist - 26" Hips - 34" Length - 44" Belt 1.2" x 26".
