Ghostbusters 2 Orig. Prod. Artifact'Slimer' Design Sculpt Maquette Last One
My name is Tim Lawrence and I supervised the ILM Creature Shop for GB2 and played the ghost Nunzio Scoleri. Slimer for Ghostbusters 2 was an evolution and a composite. By the time of the second movie there were essentially three previous Slimer designs and I was tasked with combining them into a new form that included elements from all: the monster from the first movie, the character from the Saturday cartoon and the Tom Enriquez storyboard Slimer. I needed to develop a sculpture design that Ivan and Michael could get behind and approve and this maquette was the result that became the guide for the fabrication. Howie Weed did finish work and sculpted some expression arms/hands (not offered).
Shown is my personal copy (a cast of the body and head) made from the original mold during Production. It is about 7" x 4" mounted on a 4.25 circular wooden base. Both were used at the same time for the same art-direction purposes. Also have posted a photo from the Creature Shop'Spud Room' from the day we first put Slimer together. NOTE: I want to thank all the collectors who have followed my prop sales over the past couple years. Decades of my work in Hollywood special fx down to this, close to the very last stuff out of my storage and my files. Though, you never know, the occasional piece may surface from time to time.
