Cooper et Edgar Wallace, mettant en scène Fay Wray dans le rôle d'une actrice engagée par le réalisateur Robert Armstrong et protégée par le marin Bruce Cabot. Produit et distribué par RKO Radio Pictures, ce film est sorti le 7 avril 1933 aux États-Unis, après une avant-première au Radio City Music Hall de New York, le 7 mars, remportant un énorme succès et lança le mythe de King Kong dans la culture populaire.
