About the lenses I was told that Oakley was involved in making these lenses appropriate for the camera without lens flare, but each pair was handmade by prop and costume specialists in Los Angeles. They attach to the costume cowl by pins and magnets for easy removal.
Dozens of these were made for filming as they would easily get broken or damaged. This set was retired after a small pin broke (top right lens as seen in picture) on the backside while attaching them to the Spidey cowl. They have never been displayed or inappropriately handled since in my care.
They do show some light production wear from either spending time on set or in costume storage. Despite barely noticeable damage these are extremely rare and you never see a pair for sale. Nearly all sets are either locked up or destroyed or already permanently in private collections. This is not a replica or cosplay pair of lenses.
This is an actual pair made and used for the filming of the second film. How do I have these?
In the early 2000s I lived and worked from a studio loft penthouse in downtown Los Angeles. The entire first floor of my building was leased to the artists that help create and fabricate the Spider-Man costumes for the Sam Raimi Spiderman series. They were infinitely talented and amazingly creative people. Over the years I became close friends with them and spent many hours randomly helping them create. These lenses were a gift when I moved out of the building.
The other pictures are shown to help verify and provide provenance. You will never find these pictures anywhere else on the internet because this is the first time that Ive posted them and nobody else has them. I only have the lenses for sale. These are not meant for the casual collector. These are possibly the most desirable part of the iconic Spider-man costume to own.
I can provide a signed notary affidavit attesting to the authenticity of these items as well as copies of some more pictures proving their provenance.
