Original CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND shooting script + Unit list
Original shooting script from the early Steven Spielberg´s masterpiece Close Encounters of the Third Kind. This script belonged and was used by the second assistant director in the movie, and has been breakdown, so its heavily annotated throughout its 126 multicolored pages.
So called a "rainbow script" because its multicolored pages. A rainbow script is a term used in the film industry, especially by script supervisors, for a script that shows revisions.
The first draft of a script is always on white paper. As each revision is done prior to and during shooting, new scrip. T pages replace existing pages.
Each new revision is on a new color, so the colors slowly start to replace the original white pages and then possibly replace other colors (and so on) as the script changes. By the time the script is in its final form it often has all of the colors of the rainbow in it, hence its name "rainbow" script. Rainbow scripts are often the most valuable scripts for collectors as they show the process the story went through and the changes made each step along the way up until completion of the film. Most scripts available are only certain drafts or the final product.
A rainbow script, however, shows you the changes that were made through all the different colors that replace the original script's white pages. This makes it very special for collectors, especially those who enjoy collecting the "history" of storytelling as the script that goes into production is often changed many times before and while filming...
