Rare 1939 11th Annual Academy Awards (AMPAS) miniature table Oscar statue
Incredibly Rare and fully authentic 1939 11th Annual Academy Awards Miniature Pewter Table Oscar Award Trophy. There are likely less than five of these examples still in existence. These were given as gifts to each nominee and set at each place setting at the 11th annual academy awards ceremony at the Biltmore Hotel in the Biltmore Bowl honoring movies of 1938. Winners that year included Spencer Tracy, Bette Davis and Frank Capra.
The Oscar award trophies themselves got unusual treatment for the 1939 Academy Awards. Miniature "Juvenile" Oscar statues Seven inches tall vs. The adult Oscar at 13.5 inches tall were awarded to Mickey Rooney and Deanna Durbin. The most interesting of all was the 1939 award won by Walt Disney for "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". This award was unique in the history of the Academy Awards to this day; Walt Disney was awarded one standard sized trophy and seven miniature trophies on a wood base for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Never since have oddly-sized Oscars been cast as awards for performances. Different table Oscars were given as gifts for only the 1935 and 1939 Academy awards, however the 1935 table Oscars are far less rare than the 1939 table Oscars -- yet they still routinely sell for many thousands of dollars. A google search over the past six years comes up with just two examples of the 1939 table Oscar - and only one of these was for sale. In fact, a full Google search shows only four of these place setting awards photographed in 25 years. If you are a collector of extremely rare Hollywood memorabilia, a 1939 miniature Oscar table award is unlikely to be available again.Some separation at lower legs above the feet, but fully connected.
