Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny Satan (Derek Mears) Prop Mask on Bust
Offered here is a truly incredible find for any fan of Tenacious D! This is Satan's (Derek Mears) Production Used Mask prothetic on Bust from Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny!
This mask was made for the production. It does have some wear on it, including around the mouth which is a common place to tear when removed from an actor so this may have been a screen used piece. There are holes on each side where the horns would've been. There is a little discoloration on the chin, this may have been from applying the goatee.
The goatee was adhered onto the prothetic mask and not built into the prothetic mask. This comes on a production bust which has the pentagram branding on the chest.
I would not recommend attempting to remove the mask from the bust as this could result in damage to the mask. This is in overall decent condition especially given that its around 15 years old. The paint on the bust is flaking due to age. A master prop restorer could likely bring this back to pristine condition and make it a truly mind blowing piece. Props and Wardrobe from Tenacious D rarely surface anymore, especially such a recognizable piece! I recently spoke to someone close to the effects studio who informed me this version was likely created for Derek Mears who was the original Satan in the film before they reshot the scenes with Dave Grohl. Derek Mears is one of the biggest names in horror and known for his roles of Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th, Predator in Predators, and Swamp Thing in Swamp Thing.
